Malai Champ is a delicious Indian recipe that consists of tender and juicy lamb chops marinated in a creamy and aromatic mixture. It is traditionally cooked in a tandoor (clay oven), but you can also prepare it on a stovetop or grill. Here's a recipe for Malai Champ:
Ingredients:
500 grams lamb chops
1 cup plain yogurt
1/4 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon ground coriander
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Salt to taste
Chopped fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions:
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine yogurt, heavy cream, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, ground coriander, ground cumin, paprika, turmeric powder, garam masala, black pepper, and salt. Mix well to make a smooth marinade.
2. Add the lamb chops to the marinade, making sure they are well coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the lamb chops marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight for the best flavor.
3. Preheat your grill or oven to medium-high heat. If using a stovetop, heat a grill pan or a regular pan over medium-high heat.
4. Remove the lamb chops from the marinade, allowing any excess marinade to drip off. Reserve the remaining marinade for basting.
5. Grill the lamb chops for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they are cooked to your desired level of doneness. If using a stovetop, cook them for a similar amount of time on each side until they are nicely browned and cooked through.
6. While grilling or cooking the lamb chops, baste them with the reserved marinade using a brush. This will help keep the chops moist and enhance the flavors.
7. Once the lamb chops are cooked, transfer them to a serving platter. Garnish with chopped fresh coriander leaves.
8. Serve the Malai Champ hot with lemon wedges on the side. It pairs well with naan bread, rice, or a salad.
